The "MILCO System" for reducing surface penetrations involves the use of specific products — MILCO Tilt-up & Precast Spray Adhesive and MILCO Adjust-a-Trak™ components — combined with specific application methods and the utilization of complementary construction products to assure optimum results in a wide variety of climatic conditions.
The construction industry outsources and receives many advantages from prefabrication and precast concrete manufacturing, including things such as time and cost savings, due to enabling concurrent different production lines; increasing constructability, and reducing congestion on site due to changing from an uncontrollable work environment on site to a controllable one in factories. Precast concrete manufacturers (or "precasters") are involved in a construction project team as suppliers or subcontractors who produce, deliver, and elect precast components.
Made-to-order precast production process consists of three main processes, namely product design, production planning, and shop floor manufacturing. The precast manufacturing process mainly consists of six routine tasks: (1) mold assembling and oiling; (2) reinforcement cage, mosaic, tile (or other embedded parts) installing; (3) concrete placing; (4) curing; (5) mold stripping; and (6) product finishing.
The MILCO Spray Adhesive System implements a methodology to reduce customer lead-time for both made-to-stock and made-to-order precast products and results in a 2-to-1 cost savings for the precaster by dramatically reducing the overall manufacturing time and providing a more economical and secure method of temporarily attaching block-outs, reveal and other inserts during the manufacturing process.
Specifically, MILCO Tilt-up & Precast Spray Adhesive allows precasters to: (1) eliminate the use of silicone calking — and its cumbersome removal process — as a method of adhesion; (2) eliminate the use of two-sided tape and drilling and taping as a means for securing reveal; and (3) eliminate the necessity for tearing casting beds apart after each pour and rejoining them prior to the next job.
MILCO Spray Adhesive also provides a convenient and cost-effective means to secure and join Styrofoam bocks and similar products to working surfaces.
All System components were specifically selected for inclusion on the basis — as established by extensive field testing — that they were the best product that the commercial construction industry had to offer for the application at hand, and that they were 100% compatible with one another.
MILCO ADJUST-A-TRAK™ PENETRATION-FREE FORMING SYSTEM
The MILCO Penetration-free Forming System is based upon the use of MILCO Adjust-a-Trak™ "EdgeTrak™" and "CommonTrak™" height-adjustable PVC base forms. (See photographs below.)
With the MILCO System, quick installation of common forms and edge forms is made with these easy steps...
(1) Adjust-a-Trak™ "EdgeTrak™" or "CommonTrak™" sections are installed against a chalk line on the casting bed floor with MILCO Spray Adhesive.
(2) A 1" x 1.25" - wide spacer of pre-determined height (See the photographs below) is inserted into the track's channel, resting on the bottom surface. The spacers are distributed along the Adjust-a-Trak™ as necessary to support the ends and center of each length of LSL panel board that will rest on top of the spacers.
(3) Following installation of the spacers, 1.25"-wide panel forms of a pre-determined height are inserted into the Adjust-a-Trak™ channel and seated on top of the spacers.
(4) For edge form installations, MILCO 6" x 6" PVC Formblocks® or TrusJoist® TimberStrand® LSL 8" x 8" blocks are installed on 24" centers on the casting bed floor along the perimeter edges of the Adjust-a-Trak™ "EdgeTrak™" with MILCO Tilt-Up & Precast Spray Adhesive and then "L"- brackets are screwed into place on the block and against the LSL and "EdgeTrak™" to assure sufficient lateral strength.
